'Project' and 'As-is' Watches
All watches on this page are offered 'as-is' and without warranty. Most need some work to be put into running condition. I have not personally serviced those that are running and, therefore, can not offer my usual warranty. I have performed a visual inspection of these watches and have described what I think is wrong with each watch. However, please note that I have not disassembled these watches and there could be additional work required to put them in running order.

Elgin 0-size, 7 jewel, grade 298, serial number 19555630. Nice bold dial and hands. The dial does have some hairlines up around the '11' and '12'. The balance seems OK on this one and will run a few ticks when pushed. May just need a cleaning. The crown stays out in the 'set' position. The case is an A.W.Co. Empress gold-filled case. The bezel does have brassing. You can see it outside the '4' in the first photo. There is another patch outside the 10. Despite this, the watch has a very nice look to it. The strap is new. I'll include a new factory mainspring with this project.

Waltham 0 size, 15 jewel, model 1891, serial number 9166754. Movement has gold colored screws and regulator and looks much nicer than the photo. The balance staff is obviously broken and the balance arms are bent. Nice private label dial for 'H.S. Tanner, Prov. R.I.'. Base metal case in nice condition except for the pitting on the back that you always see on these cases. New strap and crystal.

Waltham 18 size, 7 jewel, model 1877 'Broadway', keywind, serial number 1499268. Silveroid case. May just need a cleaning to run as there does not seem to be any balance wobble. Dial has a hairline. Crystal has a chip near the top. Mismatched hands.

Waltham 18 size, 15 jewel, model 1883, adjusted, frosted nickel plates, serial number 3741485. Runs but needs servicing. The frosted top plate has a lot of fine marks that don't show up on the photo. Perfect dial. Needs sleeve, stem, crown, hands. Silverode case. The bezel serial number doesn't match the other 2 case pieces but seems to fit fine. Extra-thick crystal.

New England Watch Co. Looks to be about a 12-size. The balance seems to be OK, just gummed up. This one may run again with just a cleaning. The dial is enamel and in nice condition. Hands look original. The case back does have a name and initials scratched in it. I'll include a replacement bow. The crystal is pitted. I'll fit a new one for an extra $10.

Even though this is just a movement, I'm calling it a 'project watch' since it is in such nice condition it deserves to be cased again. This is a Waltham model 1900, 0 size, 15 jewel movement, serial number 18792700. The balance seems like it might be OK, but it is gummy. This one might just need cleaning. The blue-on-ivory dial is perfect. No hairlines or chips. The gold hands contrast beautifully. The minute hand is broken, but I will try to find a replacement.
